COMENIUS
Our Comenius Partners from Primate Dixon Primary School (Northern Ireland), Skola Podstawowa im rtm Witolda Pileckiego (Poland) and Volkschule Unterwössen (Germany) visited our school from Thursday 13th to Saturday 17th March .
We welcomed them to our town with a Welcome Ceremony at Teatre Ideal, our local theatre, together with representatives of the Regional Educational Board, The European Projects Office and the Town Hall. They could experience the most traditional Valencian dances and music and I think they were impressed by our last film “The Mystery of the stars”, which is about some fallen stars on the playgrounds of the partner schools and how our students discovered through a dream that by throwing them back to the sky at midnight and shouting “Comenius” all together they could create a new European Constellation. The film was produced in English and it has also been subtitled in Spanish, German and Polish. It wants to show our commitment and enthusiasm for the Multilateral Partnership “Mens Sana in Corpore Sano”.
Our students expressed what is Comenius for them and they also asked the visiting teachers about their schools and students. There is no doubt that Comenius has had an influence on all of them and after the project they’ll feel active European Citizens.
We visited the “trinquet Court” and some of the teachers together with our students played Pilota Valenciana assisted by “El Moro” a professional player, Óscar (our P.E teacher) ands two of our Secondary Students, Javier López and Jesús Sansolí. They did a good job and you would have thought they had played a game before. Congratulations!.
Our European partners could enjoy the “Fallas at school Day” on 15th March. We all had a great time with the Falla, the acrosport festival, the parade and the music and of course with the falleros and falleras and we were all very sad when the time came to burn our falla. Now we are already on the go preparing a new falla for next year.
We shared the activities with the wide community, that’s why we visited the Adult School “Paz Minguez” in our town, The Town Hall, the most important export citrus company in the town, Cooperativa del Camp de Vila Nova de Castellón.
We can only say that for us it has been a perfect week and we would like to thank the whole educational community who has helped us organising and getting ready for the Comenius Week. Apart from teachers, students and staff, lots of families came to join us in the activities. Comenius has been a great opportunity for our school and of course and open door to Europe.
