Our school is located in Villanueva de Castellón in the province of Valencia and it belongs to Ribera Alta region (the cradle of orange trees), it is about 50 kilometres from the city of Valencia. It has a population of 7400 inhabitants. Its economy is mainly based on the production of oranges.
The town is close to the historical city of Xàtiva and it is connected with Valencia by railway. The main services of the town are a theatre, a public library, a sports centre, an adult’s school, a conservatory, a health centre, ….
We enjoy a mild Mediterranean climate all year long and the average temperatures are between 12/20ºC in winter and 24/32ºC in summer.
At our school we personally direct our daily task toward the achievement of these goals:
- Education for peace. Promoting a peaceful coexistence and values such as solidarity, cooperation, freedom and rejection of any means of discrimination. We have a Coexistence plan which states the principles and rules to guarantee such ethics.
- Health education. We foster healthy and welfare habits. We support campaigns such as to prevent drug abuse or eating disorders.
- Gender education. To give everyone the same opportunities, as well as, the same rights and duties. One of our main concerns is to improve gender competence in education and fight wrong stereotypes and of course, gender violence.
- Environmental education. To develop attitudes of commitment to our natural environment and encourage reflection on the consequences that our lifestyle may have on the environment and the lives of others.
-
To motivate students to improve foreign language skills as well as intercultural competences in order to respect cultural differences. To promote an active citizenship, including the European context. We are interested in taking part in cultural exchanges.
-
To adopt a comprehensive approach by developing new learning materials, teacher training, personalised learning and assessment techniques. We are concerned that one of our main duties is to adapt to the changing environment and to the changing needs of our pupils and parents.
-
We are involved in Innovation plans supported by the Autonomous government and based on Bilingual Educational Programmes.

The School Council is the most important institution within the school and comprises the management team together with Mr Vicente Hernández the Head Teacher, and Mrs. Maria Dolores Hernández the Director of Studies. In the School Council you can find representatives of teachers, pupils, parents, non-teaching staff and the town Council. Elections are held every four years to elect members and the head teacher convenes meetings periodically.

At our school there is a parent-teacher association (AMPA) which organises extra-curricular activities outside school hours, arranges parents meetings and which fully supports our European adventure.
